Thingy of the day

The question is not how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. The question is: what dance are they doing?

Of gods and men

Little worlds all built of dreams, everybody king of his own realm making things dance and jump to their own drum,
building castles in the clouds, sculpting gold bejeweled crowns,
and never even noticing when it all comes crashing down.

All are deities in their own head, all fancy themselves kings among sheep, all are supreme, everybody rules over everybody else,
nobody thinks themselves a servant to anybody but somebody sitting in the sky looking down.

But what are gods but humans with a superiority complex.

And what are humans but gods with blindfolds on.

  1. The last two lines really cinch it for me. The straight-forwardness and simplicity is powerful.
There are people in the world who do fancy themselves gods, but I've met a few self-proclaimed servants too. Not sure who deserves more sympathy.

  2. Very wise, very foreward.

    Thank you.

  3. What is the difference between someone who knows the answer and someone with a superiority complex? Does the former allow the latter?

If the superiority complex allows some to step forward and lead with confidence, are we not better off than if being surrounded by nothing but "equals"?
